M-ASA Fee Schedules

Note: The following fee schedules are current as of the above last updated date. Fees do change from time to time and this web page will attempt to reflect the changes. However, the official determination of fees is as per the decisions by the Board of Directors as published by the Treasurer. This web page is not the final authority for fees.

Membership Costs

Initiation Fee:

$600.00 payable in two installments. $300.00 upon joining and $300.00 upon approval as a full member. Full time students pay half the normal initiation fee. (Full time student status requires verification.)

Annual Dues:

$375.00 for full and family members. Dues are prorated by $30.00 per month if a member joins after March. Full time students pay $175.00 for dues. Student dues are prorated at $15.00 per month if a member joins after March. Bill for annual dues will be sent to each member on or about January 1st of each year for the fiscal year beginning March 1st. Payment of these bills are due on or before the annual meeting. Members who have not paid their dues by the annual meeting will be assessed 10% penalty and 1.5% interest per month. Members who have not paid their dues and other charges owed to the club may not participate in club elections, fly club gliders, or be towed by club tow planes until their dues are paid.

Soaring Society of America Dues:

$64 due each March (M-ASA is a chapter)

Missed Duty:

Members who miss an assigned duty will be billed by the Treasurer $100.00 for all occurrences, or at a higher rate as determined by the Board of Directors.

Flying Costs

Glider Usage Charges:

Club gliders are charged at a specific rate for each glider. These rates are incorporated into M-ASA operations computer software used to capture operations data for use by the Board of Directors. Listed below are the current rates for each club glider.

Overtime Charges for Gliders:

Members who exceed the maximum time limit for a flight without the approval of the OD shall be charged $1.00 per minute for each minute over the maximum. These charges are in addition to any regular glider usage charges. However, if the OD has given permission, for example when no other member is waiting for the aircraft, flights longer than the maximum time are only charged at one-half the normal rental.

Glider Reservation Fees:

Club gliders, with the exception of the SGS 2-33's, may be reserved by members. The fee for glider reservation is equivalent to three hours rental during scheduled operations. However if the glider is released for general club use by 13:00, the fee will be reduced by 50%. The reservation fee for non-scheduled operations will be one half the reservation fee.

Tow Fees:

Tows at M-ASA are charged in a graduated scale based on altitude above the airfield at release. The fee is $15.00 for the first 1,000 feet, plus $1.00 for each 100 feet above that. For example, a 2,000 foot tow costs $25, a 2,400 foot tow costs $29, etc.

The minimum tow is for 1,000 feet. However simulated rope breaks with an instructor on board below this level will be charged $10. In cases of real rope break, the member will not be charged.

Aero Retrieve:

Aero retriev rates are charged at $150.00 per tach hour as reported by the tow pilot to the OD.

Other Member Fees and Charges:

There are various services and/or facilities that M-ASA makes available to its members. These services or facilities are provided on a fee for service basis. These fees are established by the Board of Directors. These services are optional on the part of the members. Listed below are the rates for these services:

Billing for aircraft tie downs and camper charges will be included with the bill for annual dues for the following year in advance. Late payments will be assessed a 10% penalty and charged interest at a rate of 1.5% per month.

Billing for hangar rental (trailer and assmbled hangars) will be twice yearly in advance. Bills will be mailed out for hangar rental with the annual dues in February and again in August. Late payments will be assessed a 10% penalty and charged interest at a rate of 1.5% per month.
